The HPH Marliere Hospice Care Center
in New Port Richey is a free-standing, state-of-the-art facility. This Hospice Care Center opened in 2004 and was re-dedicated later that year in honor of Helen and Bud Marliere who lived in Holiday. Mrs. Marliere, who was one of the facility’s first patients, left $2.4 million in her estate to HPH Hospice in appreciation for the care and comfort that she received. An oil painting of this lovely couple hangs in the Care Center’s lobby.
There are three patient wings in this 24-suite Hospice Care Center. Each has a comfortable sitting area in addition to a snack bar and children’s playroom. There is a chapel, counseling room, two large, screened verandahs and a country kitchen flanked by two dining rooms where meals and snacks are prepared by HPH cooks and volunteers every day. The grounds are meticulously maintained as flowers flourish year round in the Florida sunshine and brick walkways with benches and gazebos provide comfortable spots for reflection. Patients and family members have the comfort of knowing that HPH clinicians work from stations on each Care Center wing 24/7 to anticipate and respond to their needs.
