HPH Hospice Leadership
Thomas D. Barb, MHA, President and Chief Executive Officer, was selected by the board of directors to lead the not-for-profit agency after Rodney S. Taylor retired in July 2008 after 22 years of service.
Prior to joining HPH, Barb was a health care administrator for over 30 years with a number of health management and health care organizations. He served as executive director of Hernando Health Care for more than 10 years during which time the new Brooksville Regional Hospital was built and opened. Immediately before coming to HPH, Barb led the development of a new Health Management Associates’ facility in the St. Cloud area.
Barb has been an active community leader in Hernando County. He served on the board of directors of the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce and HPH Hospice, formerly known as Hernando-Pasco Hospice. Additionally, Barb was president of the United Way of Hernando County, vice president of the Hernando Progress Economic Development Council and secretary of Access Hernando.
W. Richard Young, MBA, Senior Vice President/CFO – Dick Young joined HPH in March 2007 after having spent approximately 13 years as financial and operations officer at two home health agencies in Mississippi. Young is responsible for managing and directing the financial and accounting functions for HPH Hospice, HPH Home Health, HPH Hospice Foundation, Inc., and the organization’s pharmacy and durable medical equipment company.
Young came to HPH from Sta-home Health Agency in Jackson, Mississippi, where he served as chief financial officer and chief operations officer from 1997 until 2007. He was the financial administrator for Kare-In-Home Services in Biloxi from 1994 to 1997. Young earned his Masters in Business Administration from University of Southern Mississippi, his Master of Science in Accounting from University of Kentucky and his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Western Kentucky University. Additionally, Young is a graduate of Leadership Hernando and he remains active in the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce and is presently the president of the Hudson/Bayonet Point Lions Club.
Nancy L. Brown, RN, MA, Senior Vice President of Clinical Services, has more than 25 years of executive-level management and operation experience in hospice and home health services. She re-joined HPH in 2007 as its Senior Vice President of Clinical Services. In that capacity, she has overall responsibility for all clinical services for HPH Hospice. Prior to her current tenure at HPH, Brown was the Hospice Director at a VNA in RI from 2005 to 2007 which followed her having been Director of Clinical Services at HPH Hospice from 2003 to 2005.
Prior to these periods, Brown operated in a number of director and operation capacities at a variety of hospice and home care providers. Brown is an RN with a Masters in Health Care Administration from George Washington University in Washington, DC.
