Timeline

HPH Hospice (HPH) is a not-for-profit agency that was initially incorporated in 1982. Since 1984, HPH has been serving individuals in Pasco and Hernando counties who are affected by a life-limiting illness regardless of their ability to pay. HPH received approval from the State of Florida to also serve Citrus County residents and has been doing so since 2005.

2009 July
HPH Hospice opens a Thrift Store & More on South Allen Road in Zephyrhills.
2009 June
HPH celebrates its 25th anniversary of serving Pasco and Hernando residents Name changes from Hernando-Pasco Hospice to HPH Hospice. Logo is updated and colors are altered from teal to green and gold.
2009 March
The new, 24-suite Sturgill Hospice Care Center is completed and opens on the HPH West Hernando campus in Spring Hill.
2009 March
The Sturgill Hospice Care Center that’s located in a private wing of a Brooksville facility closes.
2008 July
Thomas D. Barb succeeds Rodney S. Taylor as HPH’s president/chief executive officer.
2008 July
Rodney S. Taylor, HPH president/chief executive officer, retires.
2008 May
HPH’s board of directors announces that Thomas D. Barb will be the incoming HPH president/chief executive officer.

Ground is broken on a Hospice Care Center in Spring Hill.
2008 February
A 10-suite HPH Citrus Hospice House in Lecanto opens in a private wing of Barrington Place Assisted Living Facility in Lecanto.
2007 November
The 10-suite HPH Hudson Hospice Care Center opens in a private wing of Bayonet Point Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hudson.
2007 August
HPH opens a South Pasco team office on Grand Boulevard in Troublecreek Square, New Port Richey.
2007 July
The grand re-opening of the HPH Thrift Store & More in New Port Richey takes place.
2007 May
The HPH Thrift Store & More in New Port Richey relocates to its larger store location in East Richey Square.
2007 March
HPH relocates from its original team office in Lecanto to a larger location in Beverly Hills to better accommodate staff and volunteers. Original Citrus team office closes.
2007 February
The eight-suite HPH Citrus Hospice Care Center opens in a private wing of Citrus Health and Rehabilitation Center in Inverness.
2006 June
The HPH Thrift Store & More in Brooksville closes.
2005 December
The 16-suite HPH East Pasco Hospice Care Center opens on Clinton Avenue in Dade City.
2005 August
The HPH East Pasco team office relocates from Zephyrhills to Dade City and opens on Clinton Avenue.
2005 July
HPH opens a Thrift Store Outlet in Troublecreek Square, New Port Richey.
2005 June
HPH opens a team office in Lecanto to serve Citrus County residents.
2005 May
The South/Central and West Pasco HPH team offices in New Port Richey are combined.
2004 December
The Hospice Thrift Store & More opens in Brooksville.
2004 September
The West Pasco Hospice Care Center on Rowan Road in New Port Richey is dedicated as the Marliere Hospice Care Center.

The Hudson Hospice House is remodeled.
2004 June
HPH signs an agreement with Hospice of Citrus County to begin operating in Citrus County in June 2005.

The 24-suite West Pasco Hospice Care Center opens on Rowan Road in New Port Richey.

HPH opens a team office to serve East Hernando residents on Broad Street in Brooksville. Hernando County now has two HPH team offices.

Land is purchased for HPH’s West Pasco campus in New Port Richey.
2001 September
HPH opens its West Pasco Hospice Care Center in a private wing at the Heather Hill Nursing Home in New Port Richey.
2001 May
HPH opens its East Pasco Hospice Care Center in a private wing at the Royal Oaks Nursing Home in Dade City.
2001 April
A HPH North Pasco team office is opened in the Daly Building in Hudson.
2000 December
A Hernando Hospice Care Center opens in a private wing at the Brooksville Nursing Center in east Hernando County.
2000 September
The eight-suite HPH Hospice House in Dade City opens.
1999 August
The HPH Pharmacy & Medical Equipment company starts.
1999 July
The eight-suite HPH Hernando Hospice House in Brooksville begins serving patients.
1999 February
Land is purchased on Clinton Avenue in Dade City for a Hospice House.
1997 May
HPH revises its corporate structure as follows: Hernando-Pasco Hospice, the Hospice Foundation and Hospice Holdings.
1996 June
A permanent HPH office opens next to the Hospice House on SR 50 in Spring Hill.
1995 September
The HPH board of directors authorizes a fundraising committee for the East Pasco Hospice House.
1993 December
The South Pasco team office opens in Troublecreek Square in New Port Richey.
1993 May
The agency’s first Hospice House opens in Hudson. It has seven patient suites.
1992 March
HPH holds its first Children’s Assistance Program camp for bereaved children.
1992 February
HPH opens its first team office in eastern Pasco County. It’s located in Modan Square in Zephyrhills.
1991 August
The first HPH office to serve Hernando County residents opens in Spring Hill.
1991 May
HPH establishes a Nursing Home Program.
1990 June
The Majestic Boulevard office is purchased. This office still serves as the agency’s administrative headquarters.
1987 September
HPH introduces the Children’s Assistance Program and the AIDS program.
1986 September
Rodney S. Taylor is appointed as HPH’s executive director.
1985 February
Closed Hernando Office.
1984 November
HPH begins serving patients in Pasco and Hernando counties.
1984 June
State license is received.
1984 May
Janet Brown is appointed as HPH’s executive director.
1983 July
First Executive Director is appointed.
