HPH Volunteer Opportunities

Our hospice’s volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to the following:
Patient Support Volunteers
- Providing companionship to patients in private residences, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, HPH Hospice Houses and/or HPH Care Centers. This often gives family members a few hours of much needed respite.
- Running quick errands for the patient’s family members.
- Participating in HPH’s Compassionate Paws dog therapy program.
- Doing the grocery shopping, meal planning and meal preparation or playing the organ at some of our Hospice Houses.
- Being a greeter or assisting with meal and snack preparation at some of our HPH Care Centers.
- Conducting Legacy Program videotaped interviews for patients. This is a lasting keepsake for patients to give to family and friends.
Note: patient support volunteers are never involved in providing medical care.
Service Support Volunteers
- HPH Hospice Thrift Store & More in New Port Richey and Zephyrhills.
- Team support (answering phones, helping with office and special projects).
- Delivering mail to and from offices (reimbursement for mileage provided).
- Representing HPH at health fairs or other community events like our Time for Remembrance services.
- Helping to decorate floats for parades.
- Fund raising events (example: HPH’s annual Tree of Life fundraiser which is held in November and December).
- Crafts: sewing, knitting or crocheting lap robes and booties; making angels; adding your artistic touch to other projects.
- Bereavement Telephone Support Program (BTSP) (checking in occasionally with hospice survivors by phone).
- Children’s Assistance Camp (helping with team building exercises, crafts, memorial activities and more at the weekend camp for middle school kids in March and the one-day summer camps for elementary school children) in June.
